Geotextile bags tubes have been successfully deployed for dewatering sludge and sediments since the 1980's. Advances in vertical geotextile solid thickening have significantly increased performance capture rates while reducing polymer consumption.


As an alternative to horizontal geotextile tubes, sludge lagoons, wet hauling, sand drying beds, belt presses and other mechanical dewatering methods, the Sludge Turret’s  small foot-print, increases potential dewatering sites and optimises land usage where land for water treatment and dewatering is limited or cost prohibitive.


High strength, permeable geotextile stockings employed are resistant to ultra-violet light and stress associated with filling and emptying via the innovative hydraulic hull doors. Dewatered solids can be discharged directly to the slab, container or trailer for downstream processing, storage or transportation to land fill.

How the sludge turret works


  • Wastewater sludge, contaminated dredge material, agricultural animal waste and fine grained, inorganic industrial sludge are dosed where required with suitable organic polymers to enhance the dewatering process.

  • Preconditioned effluent is pumped to the top of the turret.

  • Fundamental physics compress sediment forcing filtrate out through the path of least resistance through the Geotextile stocking.

  • Filtrate runoff is channelled to perimeter drains for downstream processing where required.

  • Dewatered solids are discharged via hydraulic hull doors for safe transportation.
